Output token limit

The maximum number of tokens an AI model can generate in one response.

An output token limit is a cap on how many tokens—small chunks of text—an AI model may produce in a single reply. It matters because a long answer can stop before it is finished, even if the model has more to say. You may see a list end abruptly or a summary miss its ending. To handle it, ask for shorter answers, request sections one at a time, or continue in a follow-up message. For example, if you ask for a long step-by-step guide, the reply may cut off at the limit; ask for steps in batches instead.
