Recraft is an image generation and editing platform built on its own models, with a studio for hands-on work and an API for programmatic use. It produces raster images, editable vector graphics, and mockups, and the models lean toward art direction — composition, color, and typography — rather than prompt accuracy alone. Designers use it for brand-consistent graphics: dropping in reference images creates a reusable, editable style without a training run. Editing covers image-to-image work, inpainting, outpainting, background replacement and removal, vectorizing, upscaling, detail enhancement, region erasing, and remixing. Developers reach the same models through a REST API authenticated with a Bearer token from an account that holds a positive API unit balance. Any HTTP client works, the OpenAI Python library can be used instead, and a request that names no model falls back to Recraft V4.1. Responses list image URLs, which are temporary, and report how many API units the request consumed. Prompt enhancement and user info endpoints round out the reference. Access is usage-based: API units are charged at $0.035 per image for Recraft V4.1, and the studio can be tried before buying.
