Descript is an AI video and audio editor built around editing text. You record inside the app or bring in footage, an audio file, or a Zoom call, and Descript transcribes it. Deleting a word in the transcript removes that moment from the video, and moving a sentence moves the footage with it. It is used by marketing, sales, support, and education teams that need to make video without a video team, and by podcasters who record and produce episodes in one place. An AI co-editor called Underlord can turn a raw recording into a rough cut, take direction in plain language, apply layouts, and write or critique a script. Other built-in tools clean up audio, strip filler words, add animated captions, swap out backgrounds, correct eye contact, translate and dub speech, create avatars and voice clones, and generate B-roll. Clips turns one long recording into shorter cuts for social platforms, and screen recording and multitrack remote recording are included on the same platform. The free plan requires no credit card and covers text-based editing with a set media allowance and a one-time pool of AI credits. Paid plans start at $16 per person per month, with higher tiers adding media hours, more AI credits, and team features such as shared brand templates and priority support.
